Nikita and David married in the Tuscan hillside on September 3, 2016 at one of Tuscany’s most newly restored venues, the beautiful Villa Le Fontanelle.
This bed and breakfast comprises six bedrooms and has all the hominess of a Tuscan country estate perfectly fit for a glamorous garden party wedding. Villa Le Fontanelle was formerly owned by Italy’s famous Medici family. The current owners wanted the villa to be “a feast for the eyes and a shelter for the soul,” and this is exactly what you get when you experience this magical destination.
The ceremony took place in the shade of the villa’s trees, aside a small church. In loving memory of the bride’s mother and others, Nikita prepared a chair with a signboard reserving the space to honor those guests who could not be there on this special day.
The beautiful Nikita wore a flowy a-line dress with a delicately embroidered top by Watters, while her bridesmaids dresses came from American wedding retailer, David’s Bridal. They each wore gowns in varying shades of lavender and lilac that came in halter, v and sweetheart necklines and flowing skirts; they carried simple bouquets of baby’s breath.
Meanwhile, David’s French Connection navy suit was decorated with a simple lavender tie while his groomsmen wore navy slacks, white shirts, blue suspenders and fashionable lavender bow ties.
The remainder of the wedding’s decor followed the lavender and lilac themes, with flowers that seemed to be spilling over every surface. The ambiance suggested all the airs of a sophisticated garden party shared amongst the closest of family and friends. Held outdoors, just in front of the villa, the dinner and reception overlooked the Tuscan hills and city of Florence.
Dinner was served in several courses, in the traditional Italian style. Starting off, guests could choose between a potato ravioli with veal ragut, asparagus and bacon or a pacchero with raw tomatoes and basil. The main course was Florentine stuffed guinea fowl.
The couple opted for the traditional Italian wedding cake for the dessert, a millefeuille cake layered with creme and topped with mixed berries, which is made in front of the guests. This style of cake-cutting is always a special touch and a crowd pleaser.
Music was one of the most important elements of this stunning wedding, the electric violin accompanied Nikita down the aisle, while the post-dinner party was celebrated with a DJ and saxophone combination.
To kick off the celebrations, David sabered the top off of a prosecco bottle, setting the mood for the dancing and partying that finished off this special occasion.[:]
